What is Press tool assembly?

The press tool ( commonly known as die/ dies) is an assembly of die, punch, punch plate, punch backplate, stripper plate, etc. to produce sheet metal components/ stamped parts from the flat metal sheet.

Application of press tool

Press tools are commonly used in hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical presses to produce the sheet metal components in large volumes. Generally press tools are categorized by the types of operation performed using the tool, such as blanking, piercing, bending, forming, forging, trimming etc.

What material is used for manufacturing press tool?

MATERIAL SELECTION Press tools are generally made using HCHCr, Steel alloys with high carbon. But before that based on many factors like cost, strength, hardness, strain and many parameters selection should be made. The materials used are generally selected are D2,EN31. Mild Steel is used as supporting plate.
